Felt a little funny at first but by the end of the first wear...it was great! Laura L: I am the same size 8.5 wide and I ordered the 8.5 - However I recommend that you go up to a 9 as the 8.5 fits pretty tight in the toes and I had to stretch them out a lot to even be comfortable wearing them.
