Olivia J: Yes it would hide your tummy somewhat, but it makes your butt look really big which isn't a problem for me and does hang out a little at the bottom. The only drawback to the shorts are your butt might hang out at the bottom like mine did because they rise up when you walk. Other than that small problem I love them!! They are also pretty stretchy so they give a bit, it is more of a polyester blend spandex-y material, not super stiff or structured.
