I haven't wore either of my belts yet, but the length is that length fastened and it stretches if you are larger than 28 inches. If your waist is a 24, it might be a little baggy...hope this helps!
courtney a: This belt actually fits kind of snug so you just may be able to pull it off. But if it spent you can always send it back with no problem. I know your struggle I too have a slim waist and have to figure how to size belts before I but them I took the chance when I bought this held and I lucked out and it fit. So from one little waist to the next I say go for it. Besides it's cute

Raushona J: For me I couldn't use it as a regular belt because of my lower width secondly it wouldn't look right. If a belt is made for the waist then guess what Use it for the waist. Maybe you can pull it off only you will know once you order the belt.
Teresa J: I would say it's definitely a waist belt. The elastic is wide 3 inches or so and taut and the bow is oversized. I don't think it would fit through any beltloops I've seen. It's quite adorable around the waist, and I actually like wearing it with the bow off-center or even in the back!
Lindsey N: I mostly use it as a waist belt, but it is stretchy enough to use as a regular belt if your belt loops are large enough to accommodate it!

Paul B: it can be used as a regular belt, I just tried and it fits around my waist nicely. The only problem is that the band is really wide so you might have trouble fitting it through belt loops. Hope this helps! :

Laci H: This belt is around 3 inches wide. My only problem with it is that the bow is kind of huge and sticks out from your body kind of far. I've started wearing it backwards, with the bow on the small of my back for even more of a childlike/geisha vibe, because with it on my stomach i looked semi-pregnant. HOWEVER. It seems to be pretty well made and it's super stretchy and I get tons of compliments every time I wear it. I got the off white color and it goes with everything.
Winter W: It's about 2 1/4 inches, and the bow at the widest point is about 4 1/4.
