The bodice does have some "flex" because it has princess seams seams over the bust in curved shapeso they are cut on the bias, thus making some "give" to the shape. It is a great dress and very comfortable. Easily altered if too large! Mary P: Nooooooooooo haha NO stretch whatsoever!! It is made small - true to size - ish, but definitely no stretch or pull at all. If you are a size 4, order that size, if you are a 6, don't order the 4 in hopes that it will stretch. Mary P: The medium is a 5/6, so I would go w/the large. It is fairly true to size. I am usually a size 4, but have gained about 5lbs. which is a dress size. I ordered the small which is a 3/4 on the size chart. It was tight and I couldn't get the zipper all the way up to the top. Therefore, I would get the large.
